“Unveiling the Therapeutic Potential of Storytelling in African Communities"

Currently I am a doctoral candidate at George Washington University working on my dissertation in Counseling Education and Supervision. My research focuses on aims to bridge a critical gap in the literature by investigating the role of storytelling as a culturally sensitive mental health intervention within African communities.
Focused particularly on Liberia, this project has the potential to uncover the rich oral traditions of Africa to examine storytelling's impact on mental health, its cultural significance, and how it can be effectively utilized by clinical staff in therapeutic settings.
However, to complete this crucial research, I need your help. Dissertation research often requires funding for various specific needs – travel, data collection, software, recruitment for participants, editing, etc. Currently, I'm seeking to raise $7,000 to cover these expenses.
Any contribution, big or small, will make a significant difference in my ability to complete this valuable research. Your support will not only help me achieve my academic goals but also contribute to the advancement of knowledge in narrative medicine when working with foreign communities such as Africans.
